I currently live in Arizona with my husband, our 4 kids, and 35 animals (yep – we have a little farm within the city). After we adopted our 3 youngest kiddos through the Arizona foster care system a few years ago, I decided to leave my 10 year career in law enforcement to become a stay-home-mom (I blog about all of this)!
It was around this same time that I became truly sick and tired of feeling sick and tired ALL the time. I was born without a thyroid gland, so I’d always struggled with maintaining a healthy weight, not having energy, not sleeping well, not seeing results in the gym and I just felt miserable all the time, despite seeing an endocrinologist. I wasn’t at my best, and my family suffered because of it.
Luckily, a friend introduced me to nutrition that changed my life: not only did I lose and start easily maintaining a healthy weight, but I found myself with an excess of energy to keep up with my kiddos, I had mental clarity, reduced stress, better sleep, an improved mood, and just felt all-around better because my body was finally performing the way God intended it to. My husband joined me on this journey out of pure obligation at first, but it didn’t take long before he, and our kids, fully embraced and fell in love with our new lifestyle which now also includes raising chickens and goats and knowing where our food comes from.
Through my own health journey, I learned a lot about myself, one of the greatest being that taking control of my health enabled me to feel completely in CONTROL of my body. As a survivor of childhood sexual abuse, feeling in control of my own body for the first time in my life was the most freeing thing ever! This freedom ignited a passion inside me to help other women regain control of their body and feel empowered, as well as help other busy parents, like my husband and me, gain control of their family’s health!
