To the Mamas…

I want to talk to fellow mamas for a second!! Self care {learning to fill my cup to pour into others} was always tough for me. As moms, we tend to put everyone else’s needs & wants before our own. But, I’m sure we can all agree that if we don’t take care of ourselves first {as tough as it may be – and trust me, I know that the struggle is REAL}, it’s THAT much more difficult to take care of everyone else.

I read this today….  “Mothers cannot give from a depleted source. Every mother needs emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual validation, nourishment and support. When a mother is respected and well cared for, she, and her whole family, will benefit.”

Does this resonate with you?

I don’t need to describe how demanding our jobs as moms are! Y’all already KNOW!!! Think, right now, about how you feel at the end of the day…. are you drained? Exhausted? Overwhelmed? Empty?

GIRL, fill your cup!!!!! You don’t have to feel that way anymore. You can end each day feeling accomplished while still energized. You can feel relaxed instead of stressed. You can feel full instead of empty.

And you can do so without feeling guilty. Who are you waiting on permission from? Your kids??? They will thank you for taking care of yourself because they will LOVE your newfound energy to keep up with them! Your spouse??? Your spouse realizes just how much you deserve this and deep down knows how much the whole family will benefit from a healthier/happier you {“If mama ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy!”}! YOU????

I can almost guarantee that YOU are waiting on YOURSELF for permission!!! Give yourself permission. You need to fill your own cup before you can pour into others. Take care of yourself first.

How do you fill your cup??

Much love, JD
